Design an Alarm for a Baby Gate . Insuring Close

What a valuable project to be working on. I researched the current designs of the 'Alarming Baby Gates.' I see many improvements that can be made and alternative materials that would be cheaper and better to use. This is what I would start with. 1. Infrared optical emitter and optical receiver at 960nM. I would not have the light on constantly I would optimize the firmware to have an certain pulse. 2. I would use a small ATML processor in the system. Easy to flash firmware and cheap and readily available. 3. I would use a ASA+PC for all the mechanical shell of the product. You need to ensure you get a product with a V-1 rating for UL-94 or CE certification. You do not want a product that will catch anything on fire. 4. I would validate all your products are ISO10993 compliant to ensure that all the materials are biologically tested to avoid and allergy contacts ect... Babies make go and hold or lick the gate. 5. I would make the wall side attachment with a removable power supply so if a plug is near you can plug the main wall part in. With that part having a power supply I would place a Lithium Polymer molded battery around 6500mAh on the gate. When the gate is closed it is charging from the wall side. Can explain more complex... 6. It would be nice to place a bluetooth module inside so if the gate does go into violation mode a piezo speaker on the gate will alarm and a bluetooth message will be sent to the mother. Sometime they can go outside for a phone call or to talk

I have the ideal design in mind and have done a similar design for a school project, the device will be two pieces and are not connected by any cables and are battery driven, easy to mount and 100% safe.

I am an Electrical and Electronic Engineer. I can do this using Arduino micro controller. It will low cost and very accurate. it can be make as wall attached or gate attached as you wish. If you need alarm and some light indication some place. I can do it.
