Hi there, I have a bunch of index books that need to be transferred from hard-copy to digital. I planned to do this by creating an excel database with all of the information that I need. I would like to have a user interface made using Visual Basic/Macros that is user-friendly. I have had an attempt at making one but simply don't have the knowledge or patience required. The essential features that the form would need to have are: (refer to picture for clarity) Add New Record - The form must have the ability for a user to simply type in information into blank textboxes, then press "Add New Record" and have it create a new row of information in the excel database. Find Record - Using the same textboxes, if a user enters either a Last Name or a Reference Number, then presses "Find Record", it should search through the Excel database and find any matching records. If a record is found, the other boxes (which have not been filled out) should be populated with data from the relevant row of information that has been found. If there are more than one records found, the user should be able to cycle through the records using the "<<" and ">>" buttons. Update Record - When a user finds a record using the above process, they should have the ability to edit information, such as the Notes or the client's address. When a user has edited information for the record, they should be able to press "Update Record" and have the relevant row of information updated, without creating a separate new row of information. The rest of what is required is seen in the picture. The columns/textboxes needed are all there. There should be two drop-down menus (or ComboBoxes); one for "State" and the other for "Street Type". I can provide the list of options that should be in each drop-down menu. The form seen in my attached pictures was my attempt of this, however the buttons don't work as there is no code. Hi Thank you for explaining the the project so neatly. I think I have all the info I need to start working on it. The picture and the explanation has made it all clear. If you take a look at my profile you'll find that I recently completed several jobs that required extensive use of Macros. In some of them I had to create forms too. I have a completion rate of 100% and most of the clients were happy with the job I delivered. If I work, yes I'll need the form you already created. I'll add the macros needed for functionality, I'll also apply data validation rules (where needed) so that wrong info is not entered by mistake, and lastly I'll also set up a tab order on the controls, so that the user can use the tab button from the keyboard to iterate through the text/ combo boxes and make entry where necessary (a feature that really proves useful in data- entry forms) So please feel free to message me if you need further information from me. Hi.. I have gone through your requirement in the description of the project in detail and feel comfortable in taking up the task. I have done several projects of data management and similar approach can be applied here for your project. As a suggestion, for you it will be better to go for MS Access database and use its forms for adding new record/ finding record/ update record etc operations and it will be more interactive then build up with excel. Also your whole data will be more integrated together. In your application a feature can be provided where you can import your data from Access to Excel anytime and can do any changes if required. Hi there - Anything to do with Excel VBA. I have few questions for now: 1. I noticed that you are using .xls. Will it be fine if I convert this into .xlsx (and .xlsm - macro enabled file) and work on that file? 2. Can you please send the sample file you have currently to go over the same. 3. Phil, I have produced exactly what you want for another client already. You can have the User Form you need as soon as you award me the assignment and pay the fee into the site. It includes Code that even HIDES the Excel database spreadsheet unless the User clicks a button! Will do it under a Confidentiality and Non-Disclosure Agreement if required, I designed dashboards, reports and interactive spreadsheets and managed databases for twenty years at a leading multinational. Now work from home in the UK across five freelance sites, with good reviews from international clients who have utilised my expertise in VBA Coding, Formulae and Conditional Formatting.
