Data extraction using dependent and independent lists in Excel

Hi all,
I am working on a project where I have created three dependent lists (A2:C2) and two independent lists (not variable from any previous input) for cells D2:E2. Check out the attachment for details.
Under the sheet "Raw Data", I will have a massive amount of entries regarding the different options (as stated in the lists) and would like to count the entries that match the given values in my lists.
Now here is my problem:
I would like to be able to:
1) Count all entries when none of the fields are selected
2) Count all entries when A2 is selected - fields B2:C2 are clear
3) Count all of the entires in B2 when both A2 and B2 are selected - Field C2 is clear
3) Count all of the entries in C2 when the previous entries (A2 and B2) have been selected
On top of that, I would want the independent lists (D2:E2) to be able to filter out entries, as well, during any given stage above.
I have previously tried IF-statements, SUMPRODUCT, HLOOKUP and VLOOKUP in order to solve the equation but have not been successful.
Is this even possible to solve using functions or would a VBA approach help? If so, what should I look into?
Hope that the logic above makes sense and that somebody could provide an solution and/or explanation on how to attack the problem.

We are experts in excel based data processing. If you want to achoeve all the points together then a VBA macro behind is best option which whenever run will do the operations and will generate 5 reports based on your points.
Kindly let us know if you want to discuss. However I would like to mention that the amount is very small for a VBA work. You may have to increase that.

Hello. Here's what I understand of your requirement:
- You would like to count the number of entries depending on the filters selected
While it will be possible to achieve with functions, it will be a lot simpler to use VBA. In my experience, The only downside when using VBA vs. functions is that VBA is not able to run on its own without being initialised (i.e. real-time updating). However, this will not be an issue for you.
I will add a description of what every line of VBA does so that you may modify it with ease.

Hi, I develop spreadsheets with VBA as part of my job for a well known FTSE 100 company in the UK. I realise my rating is not great on here, but to my defence I've been busy developing my second Android app.
You brief seems not too difficult and I'm fairly confident I could complete it within a day. My most recent Excel task that was fairly similar to this was comparing two sheets of data and that involved over 220 million lookups.
With your project I would use VBA it would be easier and quicker to use. I would use the worksheet selection change function that is available on each worksheet and open the relevant sheet and perform the count according to your conditions.
