Children's Picture Book Illustrations - Tales of Deshilak

Offer to Illustrators I will self publish and market the Tales of Deshilak, a series of children's stories. To help me achieve this I seek an illustrator, so that I can publish them as picture books. I have written the stories and I will manage and pay for the publishing process and the marketing – I am a marketing professional, so I expect success. The stories have yet to be professionally edited. This is something I will do when the illustrator and I decide which story to publish first. So, the stories will be polished before publication. I have written twelve, of which three are included in this job post. My proposal is a 50/50 split of profits for each book sold. For this I am asking that the illustrator does not charge an upfront fee beyond the GBP 10 minimum figure to get this project advertised. There is no guaranteed return on the time and materials that you invest in Tales of Deshilak. This is the same for me. In the attached files I've included examples of illustration styles, which I believe would work well with the stories. I'm open to persuasion that other styles will also fit. About the Tales of Deshilak Tales of Deshilak are stories of wonder and discovery. They are picture books to be read to children aged between 4 and 6, and read by children of 7 and 8 In each story an encounter between the animals of Deshilak and an important visitor causes a stir and challenges the child king, King Jaffrey. He and his lively younger sister, Princess Moswagi, go to great lengths to indulge the animals and please the visitors, their guests. In their turn it is the animals that discover novel ways for the visitors to resolve the intriguing things that trouble them in their home countries. Tales of Deshilak include fictional creatures and plants, some invented words to describe them, and rhymes, encouraging children to explore their own imagination and creativity. Though based on familiar animals, those in Deshilak are unique. The sample tales are of: Long-Tailed Leaf Cat, the shy cat who hides in trees; Flyup Bird, the bird who is afraid of heights; Squirty Goo Bug, the beetle who decorates bird nests. The visitors, all of them dignitaries from overseas, are charismatic and problematic in equal measure. The tales are formulaic in that they all follow the same story structure: a visitor arrives in Deshilak; they describe their homeland; the description prompts King Jaffrey to suggest something they could see or do in Deshilak that will provide a contrasting experience; they have an encounter with one of the animals of Deshilak; the encounter results in the visitor having a useful idea or item to take back to their homeland; the visitor departs.
