We have a legacy software application that is still used to send SMS messages from a database. The software generates and email with an XML attachment that contains the SMS data. The problem is that the original SMS service provider has now been bought by a different company and they have different XML parameters. The SMS parameters are hard coded into the original software application. I can change the destination email address and a few other minor detail but this is still not enough to allow their service to be used with the new provider. I have my own Linux server that can act as an email server. I require a script that will: 1. read the incoming email 2. read the content of the attached xml file 3. generate a new xml file in the appropriate format 4. transmit the new xml file to the SMS provider Here are details of the SMS providers API, I do not have any preference on how the data is transmitted: [login to view URL]

Hello, I'm an experienced Python developer and Linux user. I have worked with email services (servers and clients) and SMS services (I have written my own SMS sending service using a GSM modem). If the messages that need to be sent are stored in a database I think it is easier to read the data from the database and use the HTTP API to send the message using the provider's API; while using email as a integration method is possible it is rarely used for such tasks. For this project I would write a Python script that connects to the database and sends HTTP requests to www.clockworksms.com. What database system do you use? Best wishes, iticus
