App for Uber Drivers

The project is for an app that helps rideshare (Uber) drivers understand which areas of the city they get most calls at different slots of time and days of the week. This will be a free app, supported by advertisement for most of the features. This will be a iOS and Android app that runs in the background that builds a database on Amazon Cloud drive based on information captured. The app should run on the Uber Driver's phone and intercept a passenger request for a ride and capture the time and location coordinates of the passenger and store that in a database. This app needs to have a backend logic and a database. The backend logic can be build on PHP or whatever you believe is best. Another side of the same app should be able to display a heat map of the locations stored in the cloud database. Based on inputs from the user, such as slot in the day and day of the week, the map should plot a dot in the map for all historical passengers requests that meet the criteria. The app user (via in app purchase) should be able to unlock a real-time functionality that predicts locations of the city where the rideshare company (Uber) may trigger a Surge for higher fares. The app should paint on the map these areas with different colors representing lower or higher probability of a surge happening, based on the amount of passenger requests per minutes. The challenge in this app is to find out the most efficient way to intercept the passenger requests coming to the Uber app running on a driver's phone. You can explore the possibility of doing a real time screen capture on the phone and run a OCR or other recognition algorithm to identify when a request from a passenger comes to the phone and get the location (address) presented on the screen captured. Another possibility is to intercept the location information of the passenger when the Uber app invokes Google Maps to navigate the driver to the passenger location for the pickup. These are only two suggestions, but there may be others. This project will be awarded to the freelancer who provide a detailed and sound solution to this challenge.
