The Christmas Card Builder should be a desktop application that will allow its users to create and send Christmas cards in no time. The software should come with pre-designed cards and will allow the users to select and easily modify a chosen template.
The main functionalities that should be provided are:
A template manager, which will allow users to select a certain pre-designed template from the existing ones. The users will also have the possibility of saving his own designs as templates, which can later be optionally organized in categories.
A tool box, which will provide various functionalities that a user may need in order to create his own design from scratch. The tool box can include:
A text adding and editing option. The user should be able to adjust the font, size and colour of the text. Special effects on the text are optional.
A select tool, which can allow the user to select certain portions of the image and move, edit or delete them.
Some basic filtering options
Pre-designed items. Examples of such objects would be:
Backgrounds
Christmas trees
Ornamental items
Presents
Envelopes
Christmas characters (Santa, elves, reindeers)
Clothing pieces which can be set on each of them
Matching accessories
Sleighs
Snowmen
A main section for editing the card.
A printing option for the final design.
An email option.
The implementation can either use a select button which will send any item from the bucket of pre-designed objects to the main area, where the user is creating the card, or use drag-n-drop for an improved user experience. Once all the elements have been put into place, the message text is introduced and the design is finished, the user can select to either print or email the card to his friends. The program will be released as free software for Windows operating systems.

This project looks like an Windows Form Application of which I have 7 years of experience working in.
