ActiveX / COM Marshalling For Testing Application

I have an application that is an extension to a software test automation tool. I am currently able to access virtually all types of objects in foreign processes via various techniques. However, I need code to dynamically "see-into" and access the properties and methods of activex objects running in other processes. Most likely this involves marshalling using COMs standard marshalling, but I am not a COM expert and would like to have this portion done for me. The following assumptions must be made about the objects which need to be accessed: 1. They are activex controls with visible interfaces (which have a window handle associated with them). 2. They are running in a foreign process (to which we access via dll injection (hooks) if necessary). 3. They are not necessarily registered in the ROT table. 4. There may be more than one object of the same type running, in which case we would need to be able to access either instance. 5. I need to be able to see the properties and call the methods remotely at runtime (from the test application's process), or at least get a pointer to its IUnknown from the dll that is injected into its process). Hopefully windows COM should handle most instances with standard marshalling. 6. I need to be able to pass your code a HWND for the activeX control to be marshalled, and in return, receive a pointer to the proxy for that object. Note, this code does not need to handle non-activex objects or objects that do not expose an interface or which do not have a windows handle for themselves or their container. Please include in any bids the scope of what needs to be done in order to make this work. ## Deliverables 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. The code must be in the form of a DLL (or multiple DLLs) that uses STDCALL exported functions, not CDECL. All functions need to be well commented and well documented, especially focusing on the assumption that the comments should be understandable to those who have only very basic understanding of COM. The code should be written in C or C++ that is compilable under Visual C++ 6 (if you wish to use another language or compiler, please let me know with your bid). 2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables): a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment. b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request. 3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement). 4) The DLL must accept a window handle for an activex object that exists in another process and provide a pointer to a proxy for that object in my process. If necessary, it must also provide code to release the proxy in order to allow the object to be shut down by the foreign process. 5) If your methodology for accessing activex objects running in other processes differs from what is standard, include an explaination of what is different / better with your bid. ## Platform This needs to be able to run on Windows 2000 and later windows OSs. It does _not_ need to be able to run on 95/98 or ME.
