Basic Web Spider / Scraper

This project is the same basic principle as [login to view URL] way back machine. This project requires a very basic web spider be built (from scratch). The spider needs to read [login to view URL] and obey it. The spider should ideally be written in PHP (python/maybe Perl - let me know what language you can do it in). As does the visual display of the data. This site will be used as a low usage privately held database, no high usage public access and spider a maximum of 1 million websites. Function The spider will visit a list of predefined domain names and simply download the entire homepage to a directory on a server in such a way that if you were then to make that page visible it would load all the graphics/JavaScript/css with the saved page as the referrer. The directory structure would be something like: /var/www/html/domain_name/yyyymmddhhss/ /var/www/html/domain_name2/yyyymmddhhss/ Additional Features Any external domain names referenced in the page downloaded should be written to a database. Timeout of 30 seconds for receiving a response from a domain name. The spider needs to revisit the domain each day and determine if any of the contents have changed. If they have it should grab another copy and put it into a new dated directory: /var/www/html/domain_name/yyyymmddhhss/ /var/www/html/domain_name/yyyymmdd+1hhss/ Interface This should be a very simple search on the domain name in the database and then display the date along with a link to the directory on the web server where that days homepage grab is. Database Fields Domain|DateTime|Date|Tel|Fax|PageSize(kb)|Status ## Deliverables 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. 2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables): a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment. b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request. 3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement). 4) All work must be original and not copied or taken from another source. ## Platform Spider needs to run on Linux.
