Desktop File Share and Collaboration Tool

This project requires a **killer** J2EE/JAVA/JAVA SWING (or similar platform independent toolkit), Ruby on Wheels (or similar rapid web development platform) developer or team with demonstrated expertise in P2P, SOAP, XML, DHTML, FTP, Windows DDE/OLE and shell integration, VPN’s, and n-tier development. MySQL (or similar) experience required. Elegant GUI design capability is a must! The project consists of these broad components: i) desktop client: rich online/realtime P2P and Peer to server file and message transfers and collaboration ii) thin client: access to server backend for file and message storage and retrieval iii) server: offline file and message storage and retrieval by desktop (thick) clients and web based (thin) clients. Member sign-up. Feature enrolment (including paypal payment) capability. Administrative functions. The thick and thin clients must be adware capable. Encrypted data transfer (eg: SSL or similar) option is required for all P2P or P2S communications. Each component must be thoroughly tested by developer to ensure no buffer overflow or similar compromises. ***NEW*** See attached high level server and desktop functional diagrams for further information. ## Deliverables PROJECT SCHEDULE: Project must be 100% finished (BETA testing complete and accepted by buyer) on: January 31st, 2007 EDT An initial prototype of the desktop and thin client GUIs must be delivered within 21 days of receiving initial specifications. ALPHA testing of all components must begin by November 30th, 2006 BETA testing of all components must begin by December 31st, 2006 GA release of all components required by January 31st, 2007 Prototype review and alpha testing to be performed with secure and private connection to server(s) provided by bidder. Weekly progress status reports are required. Overseas bids welcome... must have excellent english skills! NOTE: A signed non-disclosure agreement (NDA) will be required from the winning bidder before receiving further specifications. **Bidders must include in their bid proposal:** - link(s) to online example(s) of previous works (specify role) - simple WIN32 p2p application sample w/ drag 'n drop capability - proposed technical platform for all components - agree to terms, conditions and schedule (or request an exception/exclusion/extension) 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. 2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables): a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment. b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request. 3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased.
