Category System for ShareMixer

We have a web site in development.? The script used is called Sharemixer. ([[login to view URL]][1]) The script allows users to upload videos, and presents these videos to site visitors in categories, as well as the other formats available in Youtube. When a user uploads a video, they are asked to select up to three categories to assign their video to. Because of the large number of categories available on this site, we need to change the way categories are presented to the user. Right now the user is presented with a large list of all categories. (We have over 200)? We want to implement something like how categories are selected at Ebay when selecting a category to display a product in. ## Deliverables Please look at Ebay and see how catagories are selected when adding a product. We would like a search field where the user is to be able to enter a few keywords and have a list of categories with names and tags containing those keywords to be displayed. From here the user can select the categories they would like to assign the video to, or they can choose to "browse categories" in which case they are presented with the entire list. We would also like to allow the user to select more than three categories. We would prefer an unlimited amount, but any increase will be an improvement. The way the categories are currently set up, every category has a parent category. Categories do not contain information about their subcategories. The system is written in PHP and uses a MySQL database for dynamic content. The system also uses SMARTY templating and javascript to accomplish certain tasks. There is a good amount of flash throughout the system used to present videos. This work will need to be able to be used on other installs of sharemixer.? This will not be a modification for the company, Sharemixer, but for an install of the script on out server.?
