I need a script that will auto backup daily to a win2k server from AIX 4.0 server and a script that can also pull the latest backup from the win2k server and update back to the AIX machine.
I have rsync setup on the win2k server already. I need the following backup schedule that will run for 8 days and repeat.
Sunday: Full backup to sunday1 folder
Monday: Incremental to monday folder
Tuesday: " tuesday folder
Wednesday: " wednesday folder
Thursday: " thursday folder
Friday: " friday folder
Saturday: " saturday folder
Sunday: Full backup to sunday2 folder
This continues, the third sunday will overwrite the older full backup. This way I'll have the ability to restore to any day, up to 8 days prior.
Objectives:
1. I have two identical systems, only one is used in the live environment.
2. Upon project completion, I will clone the hdd of the live system to the backup system, so they will be identical and up to date.
3. The backup script will be in place and running the same on both systems.
4. I need the restore script to be able to pull the latest backup from the win2k server and update the system requesting it.
5. This way, if system 1 fails, I can put in system 2 which will be ready to pull the latest data from the win2k server and be fully up to date.
This process must test successfully for the project to be complete.
## Deliverables
I can setup remote access to the AIX server, you will not be allowed to transfer any files from our network. You will be required to submit the console log of your sessions as well.
