Out of the box, Mozilla/Firefox blocks access to local files as a security measure. We want this "feature" disabled so we can use a custom version of Firefox to access files on our secure intranet by clicking on the link. (Which works fine in IE.) We've tried all of the usual fixes/add-ins found at... <[login to view URL]> Firefox rewrites "file://..." links to remove the host name. We want this disabled. Here's what one of our student programmers suggests, although I'm game for anything that works... The function "net_ParseFileURL" needs to be modified and the definition of it starts on line 181 in the source directory, mozilla-1.9.2\netwerk\base\src\[login to view URL] line: 204 code: nsIURLParser *parser = net_GetNoAuthURLParser(); This sets which parser to use for file: URLs. There is a parser available, GetAuthURLParser() that could be used to maintain the hostname in the link but the parameters in the call need to be changed. lines: 211-214 rv = parser->ParseURL(url, [login to view URL](), nsnull, nsnull, nsnull, nsnull, &pathPos, &pathLen); Needs to be changed so that authPos and authLen are included in the call to ParseURL(). Then there should also be a section that handles the authority section of the URL probably something like ... rv = parser->ParseAuthority(url + authorityPos, authorityLen, nsnull, nsnull, //don't care about username nsnull, nsnull, //don't care about password &hostnamePos, &hostnameLen); ## Deliverables 1) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Employer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the employer on the site per the worker's Worker Legal Agreement). 2) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. 3) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables): a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Employer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Worker in ready-to-run condition in the Employer's environment. b) For all others including desktop software or software the employer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this project. ## Platform FireFox for Windows
