For Transcription: I usually charge by the document word count or by audio minutes. Charging by word count is the simplest and usually the fairest for the client and for the freelancer, regardless of the format or number of speakers, if the audio is basically clean. Bad audio that requires a lot of processing in order to be usable will be billed at a higher per minute rate. Turnaround time is typically 3 days for an average transcript, depending on other workload. Turnaround Time Discount: 10% discount for one week turnaround. 20% for two weeks turnaround. This discount applies to both word rate and minute rate jobs. Word Rate: 0.01AUD e.g. 10,000 words = 100AUD + 10% freelancer fees A Rate: 1.90AUD per audio minute Clean audio, no more than two speakers, low background noise, light accents, constant mic position. Phone calls, dictation, podcasts, sermons, and lectures are fine as long as the audio is clean. Verbatim, with or without ums and uhs. No paraphrasing.
