Okay, I've worked for my client on similar assignment. Here's how I unfolded it. 1. Kali Linux - for apparent anomalies. 2. Process exploration - Very detailed and it takes most of time but reveals Rootkits, Trojan, Ransomware 3. Config Walkthrough - How simple and most commonly used servers/services are configured ignoring best practices. Depending on number of services, time is calculated. 4. Network sniffing for assessment of threats, unwarranted connections etc. At the conclusion of service, a detailed report that gives all the evidence and discusses security measures recommended.
