Design of multi-MW wind turbine blades

Project Description:
Wind turbine blades are lightweight aero-structures made of composite materials. Blades are designed in two sequential phases, namely, aerodynamic design, in which the size and topology of the blade are decided, and structural design phase, in which the material, thickness, and internal structure of the blade is designed. In the structural design phase, the blade is analysed for:
I. extreme loading
II. fatigue loading
III. static stability
IV. dynamic stability
Project Objectives:
I. Comprehensive literature review on aerodynamic and structure performance of wind turbine blades including tools and advanced researches.
II. Selecting of baseline blade (NRLE 5-MW), modelling it, and go through full structural analysis based on design cases of ICE.
III. Identifying the most influencing paraments in structure performance.
IV. optimising the most influencing parameters for improving the structure performance.
