…And I believe effective web copy is adherence to today’s web-content-style-guide. The research tells us what type of writing gets your message across to achieve the ‘clicks’ needed for success. It’s a constant battle that needs to be confronted.
I confront the challenge by keeping up with my education. This May 2015, I received a professional certificate in Web Writing and Social Media Communication from the University of Toronto. Now, I can recite almost every style-guide fact and opinion – verbatim (a style guide is a set of standards for the writing and design of documents).
My process:
My approach is to find that one special idea about your business that sets it apart from your competition, and run that idea throughout your entire campaign - from start to finish. This idea is your Unique Selling Proposition. This becomes your theme. After we find that, everything else falls into place.
