writing report for website interface evaluation
The purpose of this project is to find a single part (examples would include, navigation panel on Web site, pull down menu, dialog box for adjusting variables, mouse over information bubble, etc) in the user interface of an application or Web site with which you are familiar (an acceptable choice would be a web site or application that you have designed and built in the past) and design an improvement in this interface element. This report should be written from the prospective of an interface evaluation specialist in a software development group. That is, the report should be presented in a clear professional fashion in a form that could be used by designers to improve the product.
Although there is no specific form that the report should take, it should have most of the following elements.
[login to view URL] overall description of the interface studied.
[login to view URL] description (text description with screen shots, task analysis or statechart analysis, user analysis) of the interface element(part) found lacking.
[login to view URL] and quantitative measures of the interface-user interactions. (Evaluations by yourself and at least one other user(who should be identified)
[login to view URL] description (text, task analysis, user analysis)of your proposed changes. Include screenshots (emulation or prototype) or drawings of your suggested user interface element.
[login to view URL] and quantitative measures of user interface interaction (the same as in step 3)
[login to view URL] and conclusion which would include your findings from the evaluations of BEFORE and AFTER the changes.
