Automatic update Virtuemart order status with tracking link

A workaround which do the following. -------------------------------------------------- Check for every Virtuemart order which NOT already have order status ‘Shipped’. If there is a shipping tracking number* then: - Add the tracking number as a hyperlink to the comment**, together with a standard comment text*** - Update the order status to ‘Shipped’. - Send customer the ‘order status changed’ email (containing the additional comments and hyperlink). - Display a list of order numbers with customer name which has been updated. Otherwise display text “There are no order status changes sent”. -------------------------------------------------- Comments: * The shipment tracking code should get from a LOCAL mySQL database. This is the database of our order system. The connection between Virtuemart and the local mySQL is the order field 'order_number'. ** The comment field currently doesn't support html, but this should be changed. *** Standard comment text should be a Joomla language override (JText::_). So different for every language. -------------------------------------------------- Requirements: - Should work on J2.5 and J3 with VM2.6 and VM3 -------------------------------------------------- Other questions: - Could this be done by time interval or should this done by cron job?
