Hello. I need to modify some HTML code related to a wifi hotspot (Ubiquiti UniFi). The core code runs on a Wireless access point running a Linux variant, but no knowledge of the hotspot code should be required. A process running on the OS calls an HTML file and a few supporting JS files on a local Windows computer, and it is the [login to view URL] file that needs the modification. The file presents a form and then acts on user input.
In general, I need to modify the form to query the user for a couple of text items (name and room number), and then send an email with the captured info.
I am enclosing the sample files. When you execute [login to view URL] you will see that almost everything is already in place. On the second of two choices is where they user needs to be prompted for:
Full name
Room number
last four digits of credit card on file
That info then needs to be emailed. No special formatting of the email is required. It will be read and acted on by a human being. Use whatever email address you want for testing and I will modify code later with the live address.
Caveats
1) It is critical that the existing code is not messed with. The code after where you insert the date capture and send an email is fed back to the Linux OS running a process on the wireless access point.
2) I have had Vworkers program other forms for me that send emails, but they used PHP. I am not sure if PHP will work here. So I am wondering if this can be done within the HTML code or possibly java script ??
I am also wondering if an SMTP server URL and credentials would be required? If so I can supply that.
Any questions? Let me know. Thanx for looking at my [very small] project. ;>
PROJECT UPDATE SUNDAY MAY 5th: I have learned something that will simplify this project. The hotspot software allows for something called an EXTERNAL PORTAL, which is simply a public URL you supply to the hotspot. The landing page can be designed to do anything; html, js, PHP. Whatever. Although the guest has not yet been given access to the Internet, they are granted access to this URL. I have updated the included files with several examples.
