I developed an application where I have building inspectors who upload inspection reports from a tablet pc in the field. There inspection reports capture the physical address the inspections took place at at and what time the upload occurred.
I would like an application where our dispatcher could select an inspector and see visually on a map a time line of all the places the inspector went to that day. It would plot all the point addresses and show what time the inspector uploaded the reports. Along with a likely driven path between the points using the time to determine point a to b and so on. I would like the dispatcher to be able to view this map on a webpage and for the map data to be updated in real time. So the second the new time and location records are entered in the database table, the next time the map is refreshed it should reflect this data.
I was thinking this may be done with kml files or something and display to google maps. I am open to diffrent ideas on how to accomplish this.
the database is in Sql 2005, and I am currently hosting windows 2003 server with a vb.net application.
