My husband recently started a website design and maintenance company, www.jawdropdesign.com. While he is brilliant with the technical aspects of his company and client interactions, he dislikes and is not very good at marketing. For his birthday (October 29th), I want to relieve him of this duty and give him the gift of some new clients.
I have done marketing in the past and have identified particular industries and locations in which I think we should target clients (particularly mid-sized law firms in the United States), and have prepared a checklist as to how to identify potential clients and an "email of introduction".
Here is what I am proposing: I am going to award this project to at least three individuals/companies. The project will last approximately one month, and I will pay each person I hire for the one-month period. Each will receive the same materials and I will be available to follow up any leads generated, have phone calls etc., with potential clients. Whoever generates the most leads that turns into paying clients will get an indefinite contract to continue this sort of work, plus the possibility at a lot more work, including personal assistant work and technical work if interested. I have several projects that I could use help with, so if I find the right person, this could potentially be a full-time position indefinitely.
I imagine the right person to possess the following skills/traits: speak and write English fluently, a natural salesperson, can follow instructions but is also a creative thinker and generates his/her own ideas, highly motivated, energetic, competitive, warm personality that is communicated in written and spoken form, thinks quickly on his/her feet, not dissuaded by rejection. Since the target client is going to be highly educated, I want someone who is well-spoken, knowledgeable and conveys confidence without being cocky. Also, I expect to have frequent contact with whomever I hire.
While the compensation for the one-month trial period/competition is capped, the indefinite contract is negotiable. I firmly believe in rewarding results and would be delighted to link performance directly with compensation. The sky is truly the limit.
