Adapt a novel into a film script

I am an experienced screenwriter who has pretty much become the "Go-To Screenplay Guy" on this site. Thus far, I have won the last few screenwriting/script contests here (I joined 2013) and have successfully bid and been awarded several other screenwriting projects which I have completed (some ongoing long-term projects). I know I am the best writer here and as I am a beginner as a freelancer, my BID can`t be high. I can send you a copy of all my own scripts, so you can see my talent and why you have to choose me. Also, I have courage because English is not my mother tongue, and I think a person has to have guts to compete here for this job, knowing maybe 90% of the candidates are English born speakers.

There are few enough people who can write a film script, but even fewer who have any first-hand experience with veterans, and with the conflict in Afghanistan. I teach English literature -- war literature -- at a military college. Some of my students are veterans who fought in Afghanistan; one of my colleagues did 2 tours of duty. I have a keener understanding of that conflict, and of the military culture in general, than most people who will apply for this opportunity -- and this does sound like a wonderful opportunity for me. I have studied war literature extensively, and this year I gave a course which was part literature, part film. Even though, admittedly, I have never written a screenplay, nonetheless I believe I have the skills to turn a war novel into a dynamic and thought-provoking film script. I would certainly like to have the chance to try.

I am very interested in inspirational military stories. I love movies such as Lone Survivor and books such as Unbroken (soon to be a movie as well). I will give this book the careful, compassionate adaptation that it sounds like it deserves. When I majored in screenwriting, I took multiple classes specifically geared toward adaptation. I understand a great deal about story structure and also how to maintain the dignity of the original work. If this book is based on a true story, I will be sure to maintain the dignity of the real people involved as well. My overall goal is to ensure that this film is as gripping and poignant as possible. Whether a particular scene takes place at war or back at home, whether it takes place before or after the veteran character leaves the front, I want the audience to feel as if every scene is about life or death.
