Web browser based utility to remap a csv file to another csv file

Hi, I am a Australian software developer with 20+ years experience. I have a lot of experience in data manipulation, in particular converting between formats and layouts. Your specification mentions "User logged in to the device", and logging off but doesn't mention logging in to the application? The current (windows) user can be displayed but unless they are actually logging in to the application there will be no need to log off. Also because the conversion of the file will happen server side, it limits the ability to write the output file anywhere on the network unless the server itself has write access to the output location. A better (and more common) approach is to "upload" the file to convert, and the app will allow you to download/"save as" the converted file. The upload process would be seamless (i.e, you'd still browse for a file to convert), and after conversion it would either auto "download", or provide a link to the converted file for download. Other than these points it was nice to read a well written and concise specification for a change! Just my initial thoughts on the project, happy to discuss further. Caleb.

Hi, I looked at the attached requirement document and completely understand the flow. Have worked on various CSV based web applications developed in .Net/PHP and Java. Will be able to quickly complete the task. Need a few clarifications: - Browser web applications will not allow storing the output file in a predefined location; Instead, after the process is complete, we can prompt the user with a browse option. Filename can be supported. Is this acceptable? - How many rows will typically be in Concur? - There is no login option, but there is a logout option. Can you elaborate on this? Please note detecting logged in windows users is limited only to certain browsers. Will like to discuss and take this further. Thanks in anticipation.

Hi Matthew, We've over viewed the document and requirements are pretty clear. The project is interesting and tricky at the same time. But since we have done similar work in past as well so it will require less effort in setting up the basic platform for conversion. Actually, the UI won't take much time but the remap/merge and output of CSVs will be the core task. Let us know when you're available to discuss further on the project. I have experience with such a task as I did something similar for an app I created for the World Bank 3 years ago and also an accounting integration app recently. I will use node.js and Express for the API and React for the UI. The software will be entirely web based so the users will use it without downloading anything locally.
