Please choose a narrow research topic related to the second half of the course (Shakespeare through Behn) and write a concise summary of your findings. See syllabus for more info on content possibilities. If you have questions, please see me after class. Sample Topics: Molière's acting troupe The language of fans in Restoration drama Source texts for HAMLET, i WANT THIS The professional partnership of Ben Jonson and Inigo Jones The artistic influence of Louis XIV Jacobean Drama (plays written under James II) The Académie Française Jansenism and Its Influence on Racine Your submission should include: 1) 1-2 page really pithy summary of your research 2) 1-2 page response to one of the following three questions: a) What will you remember about this topic 5 or 10 years from now, and why does it matter? b) Whom or what did this artist or movement challenge, respond to, or give rise to? c) What was the most surprising discovery you made in the course of your research, and why did you not expect it? 3) bibilography with at least 6 sources, no more than 3 of which should be available exclusively online 4) OPTIONAL: any images that you may wish to attach As before, please double-space your paper and submit it as a Word document.
