I think I can translate the openCL code for the altera.. Are you planning on using the PCI variant of Altera. I gave some experience in both the crypto-currency and parallel computation field. In the past I tried porting the ethereum miner to the Cell/Broadband Engine (i.e. PS3). It was quite hard and time consuming because it required manually managing the data-bus, co-ordinating the 7 'Synergetic Processing Units' and SIMD etc. The program didn't reach completion though due to it's time consuming nature. Right now I'm using openCL for a Neural Net library. I plan to port it to a FPGA myselves after testing it on a GPU first.
