Hi, I have been an electronics designer for many years with wide experience in design, layout fabrication and testing. Importantly I have done a few recent projects that include bright LEDs for illumination which also included LiPo support. Based on your description I dont see any special issues with dimensions or requirements. I'm assuming that you will be wanting to use a prismatic cell (rectangular) with tabbed contacts. I would also suggest that you include a voltage boost circuit to drive the LED's, the forward voltage thresholds on most white LEDS is very close to the LiPo cell output. I have the capacity to have PCB's made if you want to go further then just the final gerbers. Do you have an enclosure in mind for this device? Happy to chat. About us: We have 10 years of experience in Product development for Defense, Industrial projects. Micro-controllers we can work on PIC, STM32 and AVR and also we have all the development kit and instruments available with us. For PCB design we use KICAD v4. And for GUI C# / LABVIEW will be used. This sounds like it suits a microcontroller implementation with a buck/boost timer and temperature controlled charger. A few initial questions: - Does the USB port just supply power, or is data required (eg to change the brightness modes, update firmware etc,) - Is the Lithium Ion Polymer battery a single cell (3.2v) - What is the capacity of the Li Polymer cell - Is Pulse Width Modulation acceptable for brightness control Once I know these, I'll be better able to let you know how long the job should take.
