I have designed an Access database with VB6 front end. It is running very nicely in our company server. I would like to convert the code in VB to access SQL server. I will upsize the database to our SQL server. For now I will use local host in my local computer. The current Access ??"VB application includes an ini file, which the database path will be picked up from it when the application is executed. This way I can point myself to a local copy of the database while I am coding without disturbing the actual database on the server. I would like to keep the same concept when the Application code is changed to access the SQL sever.
There are almost 70 commands in the menu bar and command bottoms to perform certain operations. All these codes, queries need to be converted and debugged to work with SQL server. Currently the codes are written with Access-SQL. Some common functions are record set navigation, add, delete, edit records, find record, search record, print records (using Microsoft Word) copy record, query records and export to Excel, batch update of records based on query and user inputs.
The bidder really should be familiar with both Access ??" SQL language and SQL server language. He/ she must be very patient to practice and learn what the code in each function is doing then converting it to SQL server codes.
I will provide the detail, existing codes and a copy of the local database to bidder of my choice.
Please look at the sreen shot of the main form and some othe query outputs in attachments.
