Coder needed to write a PHPBB3 chain-mail "invite-a-friend" mod. The modification includes two main parts: (1) a form that allows members to email invitations to up to ten friends, and (2) preapproves the friend emails for registration via entry into the relevant MySQL database. (The PHPBB3 forum is set to require admin approval of all other new user registrations. Invitatees would in effect bypass this and can register immediately.)
## Deliverables
I run a smalliish economics-related academic discussion PHPBB3-based site. Membership is invitation-only and registrations are manually approved by the admin, who at the moment is me. (I have set "Account Activation" under "General Settings" in the administration panel to "By Admin".) Analysis cannot occur with random passerbys clogging threads, so we only invite those with the background knowledge or clear interest.
The desired PHPBB3 MOD would allow any member to invite friends to immediately register without admin approval, while still requiring admin approval of uninvited signups.
Functionality would include:
(1) a form that allows an existing member to invite up to 10 friends to become new members
(2) after clicking "Submit" the form would email invitation letters to the friends, AND
(3) the form would enter the Friend Emails into the relevant MySQL database, preapproving them for registration. The friend would be able to immediately register without admin intervention.
(4) these actions are tracked in a log that can be viewed from the Administration panel... specifically, the log would list who invited whom, the latter's email, and time of invitation email.
The successful bidder may freely utilize existing MODs and open source code snippets. For example, Joomla has a similar invite-a-friend feature; email forms are commonplace.
Ideally I would like to share the completed MOD in the open PHPBB3 database [here][1] after completion (with full and proper credit to author, of course.)
