debug php issue

i have a mailing application installed but for some reason the php is not even making attempt to connect to the pmta..though it reports it as sent.. what I see as warnings and notices is: PHP Warning: fputs() expects parameter 1 to be resource, boolean given in PHP Notice: Undefined variable: body_type in PHP Warning: Missing argument 2 for show_status(), called in PHP Notice: Undefined variable: delay in Your goal will be to help me asap resolve this issure, might be php version related problem , or something else.. i m just installing a custom php mailer i dont know wich version they coded it but whats sure is that the mailer works.. thanks
