Unsubscribe from emails functionality within our ruby on rails web application.

In our rails application we send out different types of notification emails. Such as when a new issue is created, or when someone replies to a comment or through a the messaging center(periodic automated newsletter type emails). We would like to enable users to be able to unsubscribe and manage their level of email notifications. In every email that we send we send it through a template. At the bottom we would like to make a functional unsubscribe link. When a user clicks that link they are brought to a page asking them if they would like to be unsubscribed fully, with a field that has their email address inside and a submit button. When the user clicks the submit button they are brought to a success page notfying them that they are unsubscribed. On this page there is also an undo button and text saying that they can turn notifications back on in their user profiles page. You are to build the following: Unsubscribe link inside our email template. Resource that handles unsubscribes (page views/controller/submits etc) to facilitate the above workflow. Undo functionality that is available on the post unsubscribe page and on the user profile page to turn on notification functionality back on. The specifics for storing the lists of unsubscribed emails and how the hooks are created is up to you. The most robust solution could be to hook into actionmailer and ensure that any emails on the unsubscribe list are not delivered to. Another solution could be to add some sort of hook that is called from all the areas where we send emails from. This hook method would have to be easy to call in case of future areas where we send emails from. In your proposal or in a private message please include an outline of the implementation steps that you will take to solve this problem. Skills: You must be familiar with ruby and rails development. Must be familiar with either cucumber and/or rspec testing frameworks as we require tests to be created to prove that the features work. This is a small project that will help us get this needed functionality into our web application. This project is also a way for us to build a relationship for future work with the accepted candidate. Background on us: We are a start up that's building tools for information organization, feedback, and collaboration in the enterprise. Technical details: We're using rails 3.2 and jquery. Couchdb is the database that we're using. Upon acceptance of the project we require an IP agreement be electronically signed.
