**Project Background:
**I am performing a file import/conversion project from Unix Micro Focus COBOL sequential files ftp'd to a Windows server that get converted to ASCII text files for further processing. The conversion needs to happen on Windows - not Unix. I'd like someone that has already done this type of work in the past to give me some pointers and review my approach. I think I am close but am concerned on how to deal with the Micro Focus COBOL COMP3 packed decimals negative/positive value indication. The packed decimal conversion does appear to process - I just seem to be missing the decimal points (ok) and the negative/positive indicators (not ok).
**Approach:
**The attached docs describe the COBOL field definitions and includes the before/after text versions. I processed the file using ParseRat ([login to view URL]). I like the program a lot but am open to other options if there is a better option out there.
Thanks for your input.
Jen
P.S. If you don't have experience converting/importing COBOL packed decimal, please don't bid.
