Hi Most probably your backups are failing as you do not have enough free disk space. Transaction logs are kept to restore from the log. Since you are taking normal backups regularly, and if you do not intend to restore from the transaction log, then it is better to configure the SQL server not to write the transaction logs. this way database will be a bit faster and there is no worry of log file size getting incresed. For now what you can do is to detach the database, simply delete the log file and then reattach the database, and then take the backup. Please do let me know if you want me to do this on your server. I am able to correct this issue. Im assuming this is MSSQL DB server however, kindly verify along with the version. You also mentioned that the DB is 90+GB is this on a partition? Does the physical server have and additional physical HDD? Also it would be nice is you could provide the total HDD size on the server. Thank You. Regards Chris

I will check all the databases on your server, resize the transaction logs to an appropriate size and create a SQL Agent job to backup the transaction logs on an hourly basis keeping only x amount of days on disk. I can also provide a script that will create a job to resize the transaction logs on a weekly basis. I'm also happy to review your backup maintenance plans and provide you with any improvement suggestions.
